The event will occur on Thursday, February 22 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm. Full information is available on the attached invitation.
Sharing Learning Information with EHS Families
Our current School Development Plan (SDP) is focused on gathering high quality assessment data from learners in order to then best plan instruction to help meet each learners needs. As part of the SDP, we are endeavouring to provide more examples of learning back to families. At some point over the next three weeks, each class will send home a folder with a sample of current learning to share with families. This is meant as a way for you to see your child’s progress and for you to have a conversation with your child to hear their voice about their learning.
You will see a coloured folder with your child’s name on it, an artifact of their learning, and some other information about their learning that will vary based on the task and their grade level. It will include some information about how the work met the criteria for the assessment and some kind of reflection from the learner.
Obviously, this process looks quite different for a Kindergarten child than for a grade 4 child, and each child has their own strengths and areas for growth. Our intention is that we can strengthen the ongoing conversation with families about your child’s learning to help meet each child’s needs more effectively.
We will be gathering feedback and advice from families about this plan in the spring to help ensure it is a helpful process in enhancing your child’s progress.

The change over to 2024 means that the process of planning for the next school year already begins!

Past information
Learner devices & communication during the school day
We have had an increase in the number of learners that are wearing smart watches in recent weeks. We will be putting out a separate communication from the weekly Connect message soon to talk more about this and to help ensure they are used in a safe, respectful manner. The ability to take pictures and send messages during the day presents some possible privacy, digital citizenship or communication concerns that we would like to have a clear plan on how teachers and families can support learners in developing good habits on using these devices.
The main concern we want to express right away is with learners contacting home during the school day without our school staff knowing of the contact. We ask that all contact between home and school during the school day comes through the office to help ensure clear communication and that everyone has the same message. Thank you for your support!
