Honouring Remembrance Day - Supporting the Veteran’s Food Bank

Ms. Paterson and Mrs. Cox’s classes would like to thank everyone who brought in a food donation for the Veteran’s Food Bank.  Our school brought in 154 lbs of food!  Also to Terese Sheridan for organizing this and taking the donation to the food bank.

Food Impact - Nutrition Workshop

We have arranged for an “in school field trip” in the coming weeks for all of our learners to focus on healthy nutrition choices. The Food Impact program comes in to the school and will provide each class with a one hour session where they discuss healthy food choices and make their own snacks!

We would also appreciate a few parent volunteers on these days to help the process of having our learners develop hands-on skills for making healthy snacks. If you are able to support please see the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D44AFAB28ABF94-46247920-food

Peace Ambassadors - Jacket Racket Drive!

The Eric Harvie Peace Ambassadors did an amazing job of collecting MANY items of winter clothing to donate to those in need.

Thank you for your support of our project!

Robotics Club:

Big thanks to all of the grade 3/4 students who have signed up for Robotics Club!  We have 17 students starting now and in 2 weeks we will be adding 15 more.  We will do 3 or 4 rounds of gr. 3/4 students until everyone who is interested has a chance to participate before we open it up to teaching our grade 1/2 learners.

Support with using the washrooms at EHS

We have approached the CBE Facilities team about an ongoing concern at Eric Harvie School - students being afraid of the sound of our toilets flushing. This has been an issue since EHS opened, however, the problem has become especially acute the past few weeks as the number of toilets left unflushed poses a health concern, and we have had a high number of younger learners that are unwilling to go to the washroom resulting in multiple accidents in the classroom.

We kindly ask families to have a conversation about using the washroom at school with your child. It may be helpful to take your child to the washroom at our school during conferences to help guide and encourage them to use the toilet correctly. While the school does take on support with learning many life skills, the sensitive nature of using toilets strongly relies on parents helping their children to be able to handle using the washroom in a wide range of situations.

Thank you in advance for your support!
