March Swimming Lessons

Our learners were able to have a great opportunity to develop their swimming skill this past week…with the amazing support of our volunteers! We had a bit of a tricky time on the Thursday due to the snow and ensuing traffic, but the learners clearly enjoyed this opportunity to have part of their physical education learning be a different opportunity than in the gym. We are very grateful to our School Council and Enhancement Society for the fundraising efforts that cut the cost of this trip in half for families. Also…the contributions from parents to come and fundraiser were awesome…but we just barely made it by. We will need to increase the amount of volunteers for future years in order to continue to offer this activity that parents have routinely said that they appreciate. Thank you to all our volunteers!

CBE Student Survey

 Eric Harvie School will be participating in an online school perception survey for students called the CBE Student Survey. Please find the details of the survey implementation below.

Who: Students in grades 5

When: January 19- April 16

Where: During class time

About the CBE Student Survey

§  Allows students to voice their feedback on their experiences at school, the school environment and school improvement programs.

§  Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement.

§  The survey should take about 60 to 80 minutes to complete.

The CBE Student Survey is an opportunity for students to:

§  report on themselves, their own abilities, and their accomplishments; and

§  take pride in what they have achieved.

In alignment with CBE’s Education Plan, the results are used in school and district reports to demonstrate that students are:

§  at the centre of all CBE decisions;

§  able to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies they are acquiring across all academic disciplines; and

§  demonstrating Citizenship, Personal Development and Character in and through learning.

If you have questions or would like to request more information about the upcoming implementation of the CBE Student Survey, please contact the school.
