School Learning Conferences
As we have shared in the Weekly Connect message for the past couple of weeks, our School Learning Conferences with classroom teachers will be on Thursday, Nov. 28 (4:30 - 7:30 pm) and Friday, Nov. 29 (8:00 am - 12:30 pm).
- Online bookings will open on Friday, Nov. 22 at 9:00 am
 - Please ensure you have access to your MyCBE account to book these conferences
 - If you need help with this process please see this website .

These conferences are a 15 minute opportunity to share examples of current learning, to illustrate accomplishments, and to have a collaborative conversation about areas for growth. At Eric Harvie School, we ask that you please have your child attend the conference together with you. If you feel that some of the conversations need to occur with only adults, you or the teacher are welcome to signal this in the conference.
The times mentioned above are a little bit different for Kindergarten classes to make enough space available to meet with Mrs. Mask and for the Bowles/Low grade 2 class as per the email sent home earlier this month. Please ensure you are choosing the correct teacher for your conferences and the available options will be displayed through the conference booking program.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you next week!
Bullying Awareness across the CBE
The government of Alberta and the Calgary Board of Education have developed numerous resources to help families and schools develop further understanding of how to prevent, support and stop bullying across schools and in the community. The link below is a great starting point for some of the CBE resources, with links within to Alberta wide resources:
https://cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/Bullying-Awareness-Week.aspx
At Eric Harvie School, we have found that having open dialogue and avenues for learners to talk to adults is the most critical part of the process. If you have concerns that come up in your conversations with your children at home, please ensure that you reach out to us - the classroom teacher or to Mrs. Tait or Mr. Strand - to help us in ensuring we find out more about the situation and help each learner to feel comfortable at school.
Thank you for your support!
Eric Harvie School Literacy Night!!
EHS would like to invite you to an evening all about developing literacy skills in young learners! The evening will be full of information about how reading skills typically progress and how best to support your developing reader at home.
The evening will begin with some general information about supporting all readers and then we will split into two groups with one focusing on younger readers and one focusing on more advanced readers.
When: December 5th 6:00-7:00 pm
Where: Eric Harvie School
Please RSVP via sign up genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D44AFAB28ABF94-53057412-parent#/
“Flakes” Choir Performance
December 12th is fast approaching and the singers have been working hard. This is the biggest choir that we have had at Eric Harvie School and we are very excited to share what we have been working on. There will be two performances for families to attend on Dec. 12th. The first one is in the afternoon at 1:30 and the second in the evening at 5:30. Because of the vast number of participants we ask that you only bring two people to each showing of the play. This will ensure that we do not go over fire code and that every singer will have space for someone to watch them at their shows. Thank you for your understanding.
An email will come home soon to choir students outlining instructions for the night of the performance as well as speaking roles, solos and costumes (don’t worry - they can wear whatever they want).
Lost and Found
- Our lost and found is reaching all time high levels! We are 99% sure that these items came from children that attend our school, so our goal is to get them back to families as much as possible.

- Parents are welcome to come in to the school before or after school to take a look, or even better…empower your child to go look for their own lost stuff too!
 - We will also place the items out for families to look for items during conferences and during the choir performances the past couple weeks.
 - Please don’t forget to label items - this helps them to be returned to their owners much easier.
 - We will keep these items at the school until December 20 and then will be donating unclaimed items to a charity.
