EHS “Meet the Teachers” Event - Thursday, Sept 26
On Thursday, September 26th we are hosting a "Meet the Teachers" event at the school. We ask parents to please sign up for a time through the CBE Conference booking tool. The booking tool is now open and can be booked through your MyCBE.
Please attend the event together with your children so they can have a chance to show you around their classroom. These 30 minute maximum sessions are designed for you to have a chance to get to know some helpful general information about the classroom. This is different from a 1-1 parent conference about your child and their learning.
EHS Vision for Learning
Each year our teachers work together to develop a clear vision for how we are approaching teaching and learning for the year ahead. It is intended to show our priorities in working together to meet the needs of all learners in our school. If you would like to know more about this vision we invite you to come speak with Mr. Strand or Mrs. Tait during the “Meet the Teachers” event next week!
EHS Terry Fox Run - Friday, Sept 20
Thank you so much for your amazing generosity in supporting the Terry Fox Run at EHS!
At the latest count we were able to raise $6767.67!!
We made a great decision to roll with the weather and adjust our plan. While it would have been nice to join in with TMC School, we had a great time running around our school and the rain was gentle at worst during our 40 minute run. Thank you so very much to the parents who helped to keep us on track and also braved the weather to run and cheer us on!
EHS Learner Leadership and Interest Clubs
Our teachers will be offering a variety of different optional opportunities for grade 1-5 learners at different grade levels throughout the school year ahead. Our goals in these clubs are to provide leadership opportunities, interesting and unique learning experiences or a more in-depth chance to try out something new. These will mostly be occurring during lunch times at the school. We try to provide opportunities at various grade levels, however, grade 3-5 learners may have a few more opportunities as they often have more stamina throughout the school day for these experiences. Some of these opportunities will hopefully include:
- Grade 4 Peace Ambassadors
 - Gr 1-5 Choir club
 - Grade 5 Peace Leaders
 - Robotics and coding clubs
 - Sports clubs
 - Artistic clubs

We will provide notices home to learners when these opportunities arise, as we are looking to balance these clubs across the year. We may need to limit the number of participants in some clubs due to high demand, but we will also try to ensure all learners get an opportunity across the year as a whole. We are looking forward to some of them starting up soon!
Provincial Assessments- Universal Screeners
Alberta Education requires all students in kindergarten to grade 3 to complete a range of universal screener assessments designed to measure a learner’s proficiency in diverse skills. These screeners assess proficiency on both literacy and numeracy skills.
Each grade level completes different screeners at various times of the year.
Universal screeners do not replace day-to-day teacher observations and classroom assessment and do not have any impact on formal reporting processes such as report cards. Rather, the results of universal screeners help inform planning for Understanding Universal Screeners
next steps such as targeted interventions or instructional planning and are not used to determine grades.
More Information about Universal Screeners can be found on the CBE information sheet listed under “supporting documents” on the CBE assessment page found here. (link)
