EHS Gr 1-5 Swimming Lessons
We are excited to be able to offer swimming lessons at the City of Calgary Sir Winston Churchill pool from June 16 - 19 for grade 1-5 classes. You should have received the forms for this off-site learning activity late last week. We need them back by this Monday, May 26 in order to share information about current swimming levels with the instructors at the pool to make groups that meet each child’s needs.
Our key reasons for offering swimming lessons as a school are focused on building learner independence and lifelong safety skills in connection with the Physical Education and Wellness curriculum. We approach this learning opportunity as a way to help learners feel more prepared and comfortable with swimming.
This opportunity also needs volunteers to help make it work! We are so thankful for your support and we will work with you to help make it as easy as possible for you to help out even for a 2 hour window. We are open to volunteers meeting us at the pool, meeting us at the school, riding the bus…we appreciate your help any way we can get it!
Here is the sign up form for volunteering: EHS Swimming Volunteering
We have grouped together the groups to try to be efficient with the volunteer plan. Here are the planned times for each individual class:
In relation to our learners, our expectation is to provide support that helps us to have 100% of our learners take part in this learning experience. If you are still feeling concerned about your child participating in this Physical Education learning experience, please send an email to Mr. Strand ( bcstrand@cbe.ab.ca ) and Mrs. Tait ( lmtait@cbe.ab.ca ) with the following information:
- Your child’s name
 - Your child’s teacher
 - Brief description of why you are concerned about your child participating

We will get back to you as soon as we can to see what supports can be provided.
Volunteer Tea!
We have had so much support from our volunteers this past year! From supporting reading skills, to leading fundraisers or even navigating the busy-ness of Fun Lunch days…we simply could not make it all work without your support. Our Peace Ambassadors are also very excited to support this annual event!
When: Wednesday May 28
Time: 10:15am
Where: EHS - Hub Area
