Staffing updates
We have been continuing to add in more learners into our school community over the first 2 months of the school year. We are currently at 475 students, which is a big change overall from 350 students last year! Around 80 of those additions were due to keeping our last year grade 4 learners for grade 5 this year and many have come in our Kindergarten class which is significantly larger than last year. When we add new students between Aug 29 and Sept. 27, it generally involves an increase in our staffing budget.
With this budget increase, we have made the following changes:
-We increased a grade 4 classroom teaching position from a 0.5 FTE position to a full-time position. This change has brought in Cassandra Davis to our grade 4 team to be the classroom generalist teacher for the class that was taught by Ginger DeBoni in the mornings.
-We were able to add a 0.6 FTE Literacy and Numeracy support position...which we were able to fill with Ginger DeBoni! The primary roles of this position are to provide literacy small group support for grades 1, 2 and 3, and to be a fourth teacher for the grade 3 team during math instruction. Our grade 3 classes have our highest class sizes at the moment, and we are implementing this support to help meet the needs of this grade level.
-We will be adding an Educational Assistant position to primarily support in our morning Kindergarten classes. All of our Educational Assistants help multiple learners in a classroom, with the majority of the focus being learners with identified learning needs on an Individual Program Plan
Thank you for your support of these additions to our staff, and for welcoming Mrs. Davis to our school!

Thank you!

Don't miss out on school messages!
Due to federal legislation (Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation, or CASL), parents/guardians need to subscribe if you want to continue receiving commercial electronic messages from your child’s school and the Calgary Board of Education. These include messages on school topics such as picture days, student fees, field trip costs, yearbooks, fun lunches, fundraisers and more. https://www.cbe.ab.ca/about-us/policies-and-regulations/casl/Pages/default.aspx
