EHS Terry Fox Run -  Friday, Oct 3

Eric Harvie School has participated in the Terry Fox Run each year since the school's inception.   Cancer has impacted our students, our staff and the entire Eric Harvie Community. Terry Fox has been an inspiration to generations of people including the smallest members of our school.  His legacy lives on in all of us.  Please help us raise much needed funds to put an end to the suffering.

Eric Harvie School has set a goal to raise $5000 this year. We will be tasking our grade 5 learners with considering a possible “reward” to all students if we are able to meet our fundraising goal.

Please pass on the link to our school website to friends and family to make online donations:

https://schools.terryfox.ca/98425

There will also be a donation jar in the office from October 1 - 10. If you require a receipt, please donate online.

Come be a part of the EHS Terry Fox Run! We would love to have you come and volunteer - we will be sending out the volunteer sign up link early next week.

Action required | Complete Online Forms are NOW DUE

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. For families who have not yet completed these annual forms, please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sept. 15. These forms are required every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. We recognize certain families have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2025-26 school year and we thank you for taking time to submit them.

Details of the online forms found in SchoolEngage include:

  • Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:
    • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

  1. sign in to your MyCBE account
  2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
  3. select the form
  4. complete or review and update the form
  5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
  6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Bussing

Please contact Josie Cesario (jccesario@cbe.ab.ca or 403-817-3532 ext. 0) at the office, regarding any updates that your child will not be taking the bus home after school. Attendance is taken daily to ensure that no one misses the bus home. Thank you for your cooperation.

Come Volunteer With Us:

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. We will also be looking for volunteer reading partners to help support our efforts to ensure every learner at EHS has a chance to be a confident reader!

As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property.  All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions.

Guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers, and do not require a security clearance.

For the 2024-25 school year, the CBE has a solution to have the full cost of the online application covered by a voucher.

Volunteer Opportunities

Fun Snack Volunteer opportunities

Various Thursday mornings at around 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Information for sign-up will be coming to this location soon!

Photography Support

This year we will be looking for volunteers at school events and field trips to help take photos to support us documenting our learning and to support the annual yearbook that parents are able to order.

Volunteers will need to use CBE equipment for taking the photos due to the regulations around storing photos of children at the school. No professional experience is necessary…we often just find that our hands are busy supporting the learners so we often do not have enough photos to capture the action! Volunteers will need to have completed the CBE volunteer process. More information will come out as events and opportunities arise.

Terry Fox Run Volunteers

We will be running our annual Terry Fox Run during the morning on Friday, October 3. All grade 1-5 learners will take part in the larger run, and an adapted run will also occur for Kindergarten learners.

Information for sign-up will be coming to this location soon!

Field trip volunteering opportunities will be coming out as the events occur. Classroom teachers will provide initial information in their weekly email updates.

Please ensure you have contacted the office about having a valid Police clearance on file at the school prior to volunteering. Thank you for your time!

Healthy Hunger Set up:

EHS School Council runs an optional “Fun Lunch & Fun Snack” fundraiser where families can order items each month. One less day of making school lunches!

Healthy Hunger Snack and Lunches will commence in October. To set up your child, please visit Healthy Hunger , register a new account, and click on ‘Add Student’ to link your child to your account, and order accordingly. Please reach out to Josie at the school office if you require assistance. jccesario@cbe.ab.ca or 403-817-3532 ext. 0. The lunch schedule will be posted soon.

For any families who wish to have their child receive “Fun Lunches/Snacks” but do not have the means to do so, please reach out to Josie Cesario to be added to the Fairy Lunch program and we will set this up for your student on behalf of the School Council.
