EHS School Council and Enhancement Society meeting

Wednesday, Sept 17 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at EHS

Also available to join online at: Sept 17 EHS School Council Link

The EHS School Council and Enhancement Society (or simply known as EHS School Council) is the official name from what is often called "Parent Council". This meeting is an optional meeting for parents if they are interested in being a part of the parent group that helps to guide fundraising efforts to improve our school and to be a sounding board for school administration in their decision making process. They have helped us make decisions such as funding for online reading support programs or advocating for roadway changes to ensure safety for kids. EHS School Council fundraising helps to provide busing for fields trips for all EHS families and huge amounts of learning resources and technology.

We have a great group of dedicated parents that also have busy families like you! Please know that you are always welcome to attend meetings as an EHS parent - either to observe and listen or to take on a more active role. It is a group that is a vital part of an active and supportive school community. They would really appreciate more parents to come and join their efforts to keep great traditions such as family dances, year-end celebrations, and community building events growing for the years ahead.

If you have additional questions about EHS School Council, you are also welcome to email our current Chairperson, Amber @ ehscouncilchair@gmail.com or the Vice Chair, Erin @ ehsvicechair@gmail.com

Action required | Complete Online Forms by Sept. 15

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. For families who have not yet completed these annual forms, please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sept. 15. These forms are required every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. We recognize certain families have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2025-26 school year and we thank you for taking time to submit them.

Details of the online forms found in SchoolEngage include:

  • Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:
    • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

  1. sign in to your MyCBE account
  2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
  3. select the form
  4. complete or review and update the form
  5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
  6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Trips Within Walking Distance

The CBE does not require parents to fill out a consent form for children to go on a class trip that is walking distance from the school and where:

  • walking is the sole method of transportation, and
  • so long as the students will not be participating in a restricted activity as part of the trip.

This will allow teachers to take advantage of places close to the school such as the coulee.

Please read the Trips within Walking Distance Letter

Bussing

Please contact Josie Cesario (jccesario@cbe.ab.ca or 403-817-3532 ext. 0) at the office, regarding any updates that your child will not be taking the bus home after school. Attendance is taken daily to ensure that no one misses the bus home. Thank you for your cooperation.

Come Volunteer With Us:

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. We will also be looking for volunteer reading partners to help support our efforts to ensure every learner at EHS has a chance to be a confident reader!

As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property.  All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions.

Guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers, and do not require a security clearance.

For the 2024-25 school year, the CBE has a solution to have the full cost of the online application covered by a voucher.
