Upcoming Days of Significance - CBE Days of Significance Calendar

EHS Terry Fox Run -  Friday, Sept 20

Eric Harvie School has participated in the Terry Fox Run each year since the school's inception.  We have raised over $18 000 to date.  Cancer has impacted our students, our staff and the entire Eric Harvie School Community. Terry Fox has been an inspiration to generations of people including the smallest members of our school.  His legacy lives on in all of us.

Eric Harvie School has set a goal to raise $3 000 this year. If the students reach this goal, we will be hosting a movie event for all the students, and they even get to wear their pyjamas to school!

Please pass on the link to our school website to friends and family to make online donations:

https://schools.terryfox.ca/72857

There will also be a donation jar in the office from September 12 - 20. If you require a receipt, please donate online.

Our school will be participating in the Terry Fox run on Friday, September 20th from 9:00 - 11:30am.  The grade 1-5 students will be walking over to Twelve Mile Coulee School, while we will be organizing a smaller event for the Kindergarten classes on the EHS field. Kindergarten parents please watch for more information from the Kindergarten teachers.

We are looking for volunteers with their security clearance to help us out.Volunteers are welcome to run with the students, cheer on students along the pathway, or help out with water/snacks/breaks that kids need to take.

We will meet in the EHS Maker Space and walk over to Twelve Mile Coulee school to start the race. The more the merrier!

Come be a part of the EHS Terry Fox Run! We would love to have you come and volunteer - please see the sign up here:

Random Reminders

  • Please ensure dogs remain on the sidewalk areas if you are choosing to walk your dog along with you during drop-off and pick up. We have had a few minor issues especially near the Kindergarten drop off where some younger learners are less confident around dogs, and city bylaws require dogs to remain on the sidewalk areas.
  • Someday soon, the weather will turn colder. Please ensure your child is ready to be outdoors each day that they come to school. We do try to be outside most days at Eric Harvie School - only days with strong rain or temperatures with wind chill below -20 degrees are days we stay indoors.
  • As the amount of daylight quickly reduces, if you are driving for pick-up and drop off, please ensure you are observing all rules of the road and the parking area designations. One key trouble spot is parking in the no-stopping zones close to intersections as it makes the visibility of pedestrians on our challenging crosswalks even harder.

The diagram below shows these designated areas:

RED = Bus Zone - no stopping during the school day (except designated buses)

YELLOW = “Kiss and Drop” zone - no leaving your vehicle unattended, 10 min. Max during drop off and pick up times

GREEN = Parking allowed zones

PURPLE = Please be extremely careful at this intersection and ensure pedestrians are able to cross safely

Action Required: Complete Online Forms By Sept. 16

Dear Parent / Legal Guardian,

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

  • Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2024-25 – Combines the following forms:
    • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

  1. sign in to your MyCBE account
  2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
  3. select the form
  4. complete or review and update the form
  5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
  6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 16.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding.

If you have any questions, please contact Josie Cesario in the main office. We thank those families who have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2024-25 school year.

Wishing your child a great school year!
