Come Volunteer With Us:

We welcome volunteers in the classroom, on field trips and with certain tasks at school or at home. Certain activities or field trips would not be possible without the active participation of our volunteers. We will also be looking for volunteer reading partners to help support our efforts to ensure every learner at EHS has a chance to be a confident reader!

As a CBE volunteer, you are placed in a position of trust with students, staff or property.  All adult volunteers require a valid security clearance - no exceptions.

Guest speakers or visitors to the school, and parents assisting their own child only are not considered to be volunteers, and do not require a security clearance.

For the 2024-25 school year, the CBE has a solution to have the full cost of the online application covered by a voucher.

Immediate Volunteer Opportunity

As we have grown over the past year, we have moved our literacy resources into a new space. We are looking for a few volunteers to help organize and regroup our literacy resources.

If you are able to volunteer on Thursday Sept 12th anytime between 8:30-10:30 am, it would be greatly appreciated. Please let Lesley Tait know if you are able to help.

Action Required: Complete Online Forms By Sept. 16

Dear Parent / Legal Guardian,

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

  • Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
  • Annual Authorization - 2024-25 – Combines the following forms:
    • School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
    • Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
    • Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

  1. sign in to your MyCBE account
  2. click on the SchoolEngage icon
  3. select the form
  4. complete or review and update the form
  5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
  6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 16.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding.

Reminder: School Parking & Pedestrians

As our school grows this year, we are anticipating challenges with parent parking. The parking rules on the streets around EHS have been designated to accommodate future changes to provincial bussing regulations and an increase in the number of buses that will come to Eric Harvie School.

The diagram below shows these designated areas:

RED = Bus Zone - no stopping during the school day (except designated buses)

YELLOW = “Kiss and Drop” zone - no leaving your vehicle unattended, 10 min. Max during drop off and pick up times

GREEN = Parking allowed zones

PURPLE = Please be extremely careful at this intersection and ensure pedestrians are able to cross safely

The traffic and pedestrian safety during drop off and pick up times can be very challenging at Eric Harvie School, much like many other school neighborhoods. As a school community, we are relying on drivers to make good decisions and follow the established traffic rules and controls (Can you identify where the picture in this article was taken?).

Please ensure you are aware of the traffic control signs near the school:

The area in front of the school (Tuscany Drive) is almost exclusively a no stopping zone - basically a large bus zone - during the day.

The area close to the playground on the more major road (Tuscany Way) is designated as a drop off area, where there is no stopping during busy times. This is best for grade 2 students and up that are able to hop out of the car and find their door independently.

Thank you for your support of a safe school environment as we ensure 474 learners can all get to and from school safely each day!

EHS School Council runs an optional “Fun Lunch & Fun Snack” fundraiser where families can order items each month. One less day of making school lunches!

Please reach out to Josie at the school office if you require assistance. jccesario@cbe.ab.ca or 403-817-3532 ext. 0. The lunch schedule will be posted soon.
