Notice Regarding Changes at Tuscany Community Schools

Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,

Due to continued enrolment growth in Calgary, there is a need to balance enrolment between Eric Harvie, Tuscany, and Twelve Mile Coulee Schools.

Effective for the 2024-25 school year, the following changes will be implemented:

  • Eric Harvie School will expand from a kindergarten to Grade 4 configuration to a kindergarten to Grade 5 configuration.
  • The regular program at Tuscany School will expand from a kindergarten to Grade 4 configuration to a kindergarten to Grade 5 configuration. This will align the regular and French Immersion programs at Tuscany School to be the same grade configuration.
  • Twelve Mile Coulee School will change from a Grade 5 to 9 configuration to a Grade 6 to 9 configuration.
    • Changing the grade configuration of Twelve Mile Coulee School to Grades 6 to 9 will mean that transportation options for students may include yellow school bus or Calgary Transit services. Service levels and fees will be confirmed by May 2024.
School 2023-24 2024-25 and Beyond
Eric Harvie School Kindergarten to Grade 4 Kindergarten to Grade 5
Tuscany School (Regular Kindergarten to Grade 4 Kindergarten to Grade 5
Tuscany School (French Immersion) Kindergarten to Grade 5 Kindergarten to Grade 5
Twelve Mile Coulee School Grade 5 to 9 Grade 6 to 9

Why is this change happening?

There is available capacity at Eric Harvie School and Tuscany School to expand the regular program to include Grade 5. Twelve Mile Coulee School is projected to be nearly 100 per cent utilized for the 2024-25 school year, so removing Grade 5 will help create space.

Changes are being made to balance enrolment across our schools and help alleviate current and anticipated enrolment pressures in Northwest Calgary. Additionally, these changes will align grade configurations for the regular and alternative programs at Tuscany School.
